The Eagle-Tribune: Tsongas, Tierney on opposite sides of the bailout bill

  • doh · 1 year ago
You know where that very important $700-billion figure came from?
Here's a quote from that Forbes story:
"It's not based on any particular data point," a Treasury spokeswoman told Forbes.com Tuesday. "We just wanted to choose a really large number."

JUST SHOWS YOU THAT TSONGAS HAS NO VALUE FOR THE AVERAGE WORKING PERSON AND IS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY.
THANKS JOHN TIERNEY FOR STANDING UP FOR THE REAL PEOPLE.
HEY NIKKI IT'S NOT ALL ABOUT THE STOCK MARKET AND YOUR MILLIONS THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tsongas is a Pelosi puppet! She is an empty headed dolt, that does not represent her constituents, and wants to reward the criminals.

YOU'RE MORE THAN RIGHT -OHOH- TSONGAS DID MENTIONED THE OLD PEOPLE WHO LIVE ON FIX INCOME AND SAID SOMETHING ABOUT OWNING SOME KIND OF STOCKS, BUT I DOUBT THAT. HOW CAN YOU LIVE ON FIX INCOME WHEN YOU OWN STOCKS? IT'S REALLY SOMETHIN TO THINK ABOUT IT. I MYSELF LIVE ON FIX INCOME AND SOMETIMES I DON'T HAVE MONEY TO BUY GROCERIES!
  • Andy · 1 year ago
Yeah you don't work so you don't care about people who may lose their jobs. Another self centered idiot who wants others to be as miserable as they are.
  • superjaded · 1 year ago
Help, the sky is falling. How is it our fault that people could lose their jobs? Get used to the fact that your government doesn't owe you anything or neither do your neighbors. Some of us have managed to live within our means while others have spent and spent like there's no tomorrow. People have to learn to be self-reliant, no one is going to come and save you if you make stupid financial decisions. Too many people look to the government to solve all their problems. If I lost my job, I'd go out and find another one to replace it or move to another state to find one if I had to. It's called independence.

John Tierney is alive and well and working for his constituents in Washington. Thanks for listening to us John, even if it is an election year for you. We won't forget this. Maybe time to take the Rich Baker sign down? Well done. Can't say much for Niki Tsongas, never could.

I AM GIVING BAKER THOUSANDS TO DEFEAT TIERNEY. GOOD LUCK JOHN IN THE LAYOFF LINES WITH THE REST OF US.

How interesting that the Dow is up 250 points today. It's been going up since this morning. I think Congress made the right choice and the market will correct itself.

I'm glad they didn't listen to the wails of Barney Fife, I mean Barney Frank.

I have been watching CNBC this morning and people with financial savy say this deal was not good. Throwing money at the problem is NOT the answer. Overspending, no oversight and lack of trust is also part of the equation. People use their credit cards with no means of paying; it's just ridiculous!!!!

The reasons we are in this $700B - $1 Trillion mess:
Freddie/Fannie Mac. were forced to lend to individuals that were poor and bad credit risks; the federal government promised federal backing and guarantees. President Bush tried to pass/introduce lesislation 4-5 years ago to fix this mess & Rep. Frank & others in Congress blocked these efforts.
How many mortgages are in distress? Fact: 33 Million active mortgages; these people should get $12,000 each per mortgagee instead of giving $700 Billion to Wall Street & to firms that deserve to fail due to their greed.
nObama is financially illiterate and inept; he tried to take the credit for passing the failed bail-out deal and he could not even convince his own IL deligation/IL Representatives to support this bailout plan.
We should not be trying to fix bad GOV. with bad Government. I am sick of the drive-by media trying to convince Americans that both sides are at fault; If Republicans were/are at fault, the US Congress (controlled by the Democrats) would be having Congressional hearings RIGHT NOW. This is not happening & will not or Rep. Frank & Senator Dodd would be in deep trouble.
The so-called bailout just encourages the bad/immoral companies to survive & rewards these bad ideas & practices.

Bravo Nicki!!!!! Bravo.... I'm with you!!!!!!!!!!! Keep up the good work!!!!!!! BRAVOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
  • Robbo the Yobbo · 1 year ago
Well done, John Tierney! I called your DC office to request you vote NEA on a Wall Street bailout and YEA on one for homeowners, and you came through! I'm hopeful Congress doesn't get rolled by Bush/Paulson on this deal. No crisis is so dire that Congress can't take some time to put together a fair deal that respects the fact that the American People are too big to fail. (And if they aren't, then neither are the investment banks.)

Tsongas Has lost my vote... NO BAIL OUT. I guess she doesn't listen to all the phone calls she gets.

I mean how bad can it really be? I haven't seen any of these wall st. guys jumping out of windows yet. Let alone any of these c.e.o.'s offing themselves. seems they are all still living the high life. Why should I pay for their FRAUD. Put em in jail and let the Market sort it out... This isn't a socialist country is it?

For the racists blaming minorities for the $$ problems:

Summary: Several conservatives in the media have recently blamed the Community Reinvestment Act for the current financial crisis -- when, in fact, the CRA does not apply to institutions making the vast majority of troubled loans underlying the crisis. It applies only to depository institutions, such as banks and savings and loan associations. Experts have estimated that 80 percent of high-priced subprime loans were offered by financial institutions that are not subject to the CRA.

DUMBASSES DRANK BUSHCO'S KOOLAID..HATEFUL SUCKERS, ALWAYS TRYING TO BLAME BROWN AND BLACK PEOPLE FOR YOUR OWN PROBLEMS. THEY DON'T EVEN MAKE UP 10% OF THE MORTGAGES. TRY THE 2ND HOME AT THE HAMPTONS, AND THE EXTRA WINTER CONDO IN FLORIDA
  • kat333 · 1 year ago
WOW. I've never known a nana to talk like that. :) You go girl.

Maybe I missed something though: Who is blaming minorities for this financial mess? I didn't see anything posted on this blog entry regarding minorities.

That's right, slow way down. Stop these republican theives before they get their hands on this $$. They know Obama is going to make them pay later, so they are trying to steal now. McPalin is washed up! grab the $$ and run.

PS: Try credit unions, they do better than banks for your $$. Ive been in one since 1997 and have never been better.
