Windham representative leads fight against gay marriage
I'm at home now, and don't have the book with me, but here goes.
In the first, Andover got five. The first scored on an error, the last four came after two were out in the inning. That makes them unearned.
Second inning was the same thing. To Andover's credit, they got all the big hits after two were down and after an error in the inning.
Talk to any official scorer and that makes the runs unearned.
it's a pretty bad rule of scoring, I admit, because the kid did get hit hard and pays no price, but that's the way the game is.
Same, in the opposite fashion with the Wheeler kid, when he came in for Central. He deserved a better fate, but his runs were earned even though he through a couple fly balls that should have been caught but dropped in for hits.
I just go by the rules of the game.
HL
I misinterpreted the ruling. I thought when the error occurs on 2 outs any base runners are unearned. After that any new base runners that score are earned. Thanks for the clarification.
You are correct on the Wheeler kid who throws well( some bad breaks). Central has some big bats and are tough to get out the 2nd and 3rd time around the lineup. I think the kid from Andover pitched very well especially for being the 2nd time facing them.
Hey, great job covering the local sports scene.
