The smart thing to do now is to pull a Democratic ballot, to vote against Kerry. Then vote Beatty in November. THINK.

Before anybody votes Democrat Take the time to read this and ask yourselves do we need more of the same?

Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social Security (FICA) Program.

    He promised:
    1.
) That participation in the Program would be completely voluntary,

    2.
) That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400 of their annual incomes into the Program,

    3.
) That the money the participants elected to put into the Program would be deductible from their income for tax purposes each year,

    4.
) That the money the participants put into the independent "Trust Fund" rather than into the General operating fund and therefore, would only be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program and no other Government program and,

5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as income.

Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are now receiving a Social Security check every month -- and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal government to "put away," you may be interested in the following:

Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the independent "Trust" fund and put it into the General fund so that Congress could spend it?

A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the Democratically-controlled House and Senate.

Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?
    A: The Democratic Party.

Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities?

A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the "tie-breaking" deciding vote as President of the Senate, while he was Vice President of the U.S.

Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving annuity payments to immigrants?

A: Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party.
Immigrants moved into this country and at age 65, began to receive SSI Social Security payments! The Democratic Party gave these payments to them, even though they never paid a dime into it!

After all this thieving and violation of the original contract (FICA), the Democrats will tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away.

and people will turn around and blame Bush for everything, as the democrats quietly take our liberties away

Cut and Paste, you are like the bums that come to wash my windshield at the traffic light, giving me something that I'm not interested in. All I've seen is your cut and paste agendas here no one reads them they are too verbose.

He's got a point there. Sound bites and Reader's Digest condensed versions would be more appropriate here ftp.

I noticed that all the Republicans like to cut & paste cr@p. Is this some kind of shared strategy that you share with each other? Don't you know what just being verbose doesn't make you right? In fact it just makes me dismiss your post.

    I am not a "republican"....nor am I a "democrat"

    I work for a living.

Unlike 2/3 of the citizens of Lawrence....or any other major urban area. I think the media refers to these counties as "BLUE states". Look at the map by county and see how our country is divided....

    www.usatoday.com/news/politicselections/vote200...

Our state and federal governments are completely bloared and out of touch with the average working person and small business owner.

Cannot "vote" change as we get the same cast of characters running for office. Most good people I know work for a living and cannot run for office. Even if we do vote in a 'voice of change' - the MACHINE is too big and owned by wealthy special interests. The small voices are BURIED by the machine.

There's only one way to fix this mess we have. Complete restructure of the state/federal government structures - and since it will not start in Boston or Washington, we need to act locally

Or, we rekindle the Sons of Liberty (maybe that's not such a bad idea either)

Start with VOTING YES on QUESTION 1. We can make our state government OURS again. There is no other way to fix our state government. Latigua, Devers, DiBella, Campbell....do you really think ANY of them will put the WORKING people and small businesses 1st?

Regarding the race between Lantigua vs. Devers, I don't know if there's really any good choices between those two. It's like trying to pick the lesser of two evil. One is incompetent and annoys with stupid automated phone messages on Sundays. The other was caught throwing a party where there was open beer bottles which the police had to shut down. Lantigua also seems to have this permanent sign affixed to the building at the corner of Dorchester and South Union for the past four years. You figure he would have the decency to take it down when he's not campaigning, or he's just too lazy to do it.
