The Eagle-Tribune: Prominent Haverhill businessman faces assault, attempt to rape charges Thomas Minichiello Jr. was held four days until release yesterday

Just because someone has done "civic" duties does not mean he's not a sexual predator. It's been shown time and time again that these men who we are expected to trust are some of the sickest bastards there are. Look at the priests. NO ONE believed the kids. PRIESTS are GOD, They would never ever do anything like this. NO ONE listened to the kids. 25 years later and theyre still trying to clear it up. No one knows what evil lurks in some hearts till it's exposed.Hang this bastard.

Once again a defense attorney who turns the focus of his client's crime onto the victim........all a smoke screen........Mr. Gleason, I have a question for you....What prominent businessman meets a woman miles from his home to examine her physically for a job? Did the judge who swore you in examine you physically before they admitted you to the bar????
  • JimBob · 1 year ago
"The woman said Minichiello then backed away and changed his voice to that of a child and asked the woman if she were angry at him."

This is my favorite part. I've re-read that over and over again, sometimes I even recite the lines in the voice of a child.

Let's see what happens to the rich white guy! We already know! Nothing.
  • Carrot · 1 year ago
Hopefully, the same thing will happen to him as happened to the white chiropractors, the white tax cheats and the white guys (Scott Peterson, etc) who kill their wives: Do Not Pass Go, Go Directly To Jail. It's the OJ Simpsons of the world that concern me.
  • T-Ma · 1 year ago
Oh my goodness! This poor poor man!! hahahaha...He met a tottie (we all know they come from RI) and she set him up and has embarassed his name and put him to shame. This is punishment enough....I'm already scared to do anymore business with this dirt bag! Hahahaha
  • unbelievable · 1 year ago
Read between the lines. The guy has a creepy side and she didn't like it. She was there under the pretense of getting some too.
Gleason is a good lawyer but he isn't this good.
  • unbelievable · 1 year ago
It should say "FORMER" prominent business man. Cuz you out of business now Jack !!
  • DAT · 1 year ago
Take a deep breath, folks... we don't know all the details, and we still have a system that presumes you are innocent until proven guilty. Whatever happened, Tom Minichiello has earned a tremendous amount of good will, and people who know him well will not abandon him now.
  • unbelievable · 1 year ago
GOOD WILL stops when you try to get a woman HALF your age into a motel room.
I took my deep breath and it's still creepy. Another town, discreet rendevouz, okay when did he buy a GYM ??
  • TaughtMyGirlsOnlyMan2payIsMe · 1 year ago
Whatever about the "half his age" comment. Women target older men. It's because older men have money. Plain and simple. Because their whore mothers taught them that's its okay to do so. I don't blame Michienello or the tramp. I blame her parents.
  • DILLIGAF · 1 year ago
um, you think maybe she was hooking? It's not TOO obvious, and I wasn't even there!!!
  • Rose · 1 year ago
I suppose alot of men will be surprized by these events but most women who have been around the man have always picked up on the "creep factor". I feel bad for his family and close friends who never saw this coming.

Does Scot Gleason only defend quilty people?
  • pm · 1 year ago
We have been a customers of Tom's for years. When we needed an agent to help with any claims he was there. We have always been able to count on him and have never been dissapointed with him. If he did this then he should be punished. However, if he did not, this is the worst thing that could happen. Those people who wish to believe the worst will never forget a lie. We all need to remember there are two sides to every story. Based on what I know now, I will wait to pass judgement.

I can't comment on wether Tom comitted these crimes, but I can comment on Tom himself. I was his neighbor for 8 years. Tom Minichiello is a self-centered, egotistical, power hungry man, who only is concerned with one person, himself. All these good deads, he did in the past, are an act to bring him power or infuence. I truely feel bad for his ex-wife, who truely tried to love this man and his daughter!

His wife "tryed" to love his daughter? Prehaps you spent too much time tied to the bottle
  • appyhorse · 1 year ago
First of all "tryed" is spelled tried and second I don't drink! Perhaps you should read the sentence again or take an English class.
  • camper · 1 year ago
I did you idiot. 'TRIED TO LOVE THIS MAN AND HIS DAUGHTER". Go have another drink
  • appyhorse · 1 year ago
I see that your education is limited. So I will not use compound sentances for you. I truely feel bad for his ex-wife and his daughter. His, ex-wife truely tried to love him. I hope that is simple enough for you.
Oh, and your second comment on this page you should proof read. But they probably didn't teach you that in school. "your are innocent"

USA..........................People are tried in a court, not in the newspaper & your are innocent until found guilty. So everyone take a deep breath and remember we live in America

Older men looking for younger women equals trouble.

Mr. Haverhill Businessman Tom Minichiello got just what he was looking for in that Marlborough hotel with that 27 year old. What's the matter with the Haverhill hotels, afraid that people would recognize you?
  • mj · 1 year ago
I have to agree with Tom's neighbor, his community involvement was just a big show. He is not a nice person and people who "really" know him would not put anything past him.
  • camper · 1 year ago
Whats the matter with 27? Just dont play Marcus Welby
  • Not Surprised · 1 year ago
Mr. Minichiello no doubt has performed his share of civic duties, but the man is extremely self-centered, arrogant, an adulterer and a liar.

Why go to a different town to "interview" a prospective employee? Does he even own a gym? And while the 27 year olds' judgement comes into question, she is still a victim here. Just look at the list of evidence.....a bit too suspicious for me!

I wonder how many of his former "acquaintances" will come forward to attest to the fact that he is a man who "stalks his prey". I feel badly for his deceased daughter for him to be hiding behind her tragic death, but honestly, it was 5 years ago....time to get some help and stop using that as an excuse! And even more so, I feel badly for his ex-wife and family, for they have to witness yet again what a pompous bastard the man truly is.

He will have his day in court and hopefully a jury will see through political crap and convict him!
  • Just my 2 cents · 1 year ago
I've known Tom for over 20 years and I wasn't surprised either. I felt badly for his family and I too wondered how this event would impact his ex-wife and his other daughter. Sad, sad, sad. That's all I can say. The loss of his beautiful daughter Tara was indeed tragic. There is no denying that on any level. But I worked at in an insurance agency across the street from his (many years ago) and we had a competitive (but "friendly") rivalry. I am a woman and he gave me the creeps back then (I was in my early 20's and considered good looking). He has been giving off that "creepy" vibe for years but that doesn't make him guilty of the charges against him. The evidence against him is very damaging for sure, but it is up to a jury to convict him. Let the judicial system do their job. The publicity alone has already killed him. He won't rebound from this. I suspect he'll commit suicide before this is over any way.
  • camper · 1 year ago
    aRE YOU STILL GOOD LOOKING?
  • Just my 2 Cents · 1 year ago
Yeah but not as good looking as I was THEN! Why? Wanna buy some insurance? LOL.
  • Carrot · 1 year ago
I once went to a job interview that involved rubber gloves and a flashlight, but it was for an exterminator's job.

And then, oddly enough, once I'd landed a job as a bug killer for ABC Consolidated Pest Exterminators and Sons, Inc, my first customer was Minichiello Insurance in Haverhill.

What a demented place! It was filled with terry cloth towels, blood-stained sheets, computers that dated back to the early 80's and there were empty frozen dinner packages scattered across the floor.

The weirdest thing of all were the large number of Leif Garrison and Susan Anton pictures tacked to the wall. If I'd been the landlord I would have gone ballistic on the guy over the smell alone.

But what did I know? I was there to do a job, a dirty job, one that required a real man. I was there to kill the roaches.

As I crawled around under the desk and behind the refrigerator I heard footsteps behind me.

It was Tom Minichiello, with a flashlight and rubber gloves! He insisted I strip naked and submit to a physical exam to see if I was qualified to kill the roaches infesting his office. He also told me he wanted to check me for cancer, and at that point he put on the rubber gloves.

I fired a burst of DDT into his face and ran screaming naked into the streets of Haverhill ( where such behavior is NOT uncommon). As I looked back, I could see his true form emerge from the cocoon-like shell that formed a fake human skin. He was a large, roach-like creature, like in that lousy 'Mimic' movie, and as I climbed back into the ABC Consolidated Pest Exterminators and Sons, Inc, van, I could hear the humanoid insect scream at me.

It said "Are you angry with me?" in the voice of a child.

To this day, I hate bugs.
  • Just my 2 Cents · 1 year ago
Ya know...most of that could have been true considering I know the guy's old life style and it wasn't uncommon for him to leave his kitchen area littered with trash (true story).

However, the sarcasm is so colorful it's difficult to tell if you're for him or against him!

    Either way, very interesting stuff...

Typical dogpatch USA (Groveland). Tom chairs the finance board, John Gray gets elected State Rep, and the beat goes on.
  • Just my 2 cents · 1 year ago
    Hah!!

I'm thinking even Al Capp's vision of Dogpatch USA
didn't include what goes on in Groveland!!

    Nice analogy, though!
