Unfortunately, a lot of the older people feel this way because they lived through times where people didn't have civil rights and there was fear of communism in the 50s. Many people of that era just believed everything they read or heard.

All companies are getting tax breaks, not just the oil companies. Much of the profits for all of these companies go to the shareholders and other investors. The problem with corporations that I find problematic is all the CEOS and board of directors getting huge kickbacks and severance packages. A few weeks ago, one financial CEO received 19 million dollars after only being on the job for 9 days - and the company he led, failed, costing thousands their jobs.
If McCain manages to perform a miracle and come back in the polls, he would lower the corporate tax rate to 25%. I don't know if I truly believe he will get rid of the hanky panky with the corporate kickbacks. On one hand, he says he will and claims that he was held back from doing so in the Senate. He's been a Senator for 26 years. We hear of some of the good work he's done (as has Biden) but I'm not sure I trust McCain.
Look, I'm voting for Bob Barr. I wish people would see that BOTH of these candidates stink and start looking at alternatives for true change. The traditional two party system is broken and can't be fixed. There's too much hatred between the parties. Just take a look at all the comments going back and forth on this blog where people are allowed to speak their minds anonymously. I think it's time for a change and hope that people come to that realization soon too.
Regardless of who is our next president, that person will faill because of the mess that this country is in. Then we'll continuously see finger pointing between the two parties as to whose fault it is.

Go to Wal-Mart in your Transmaro and trade in your dentures for 1 ticket. That is considered an E-ticket, and gets you 1 hot dog,1 soda, and 1 toothbrush. If you still have all your own teeth you need not go to the revival meeting.

They must have some pretty die hard people to go to these rallies. If they're already supporters, why don't they just go out and campaign for their candidate rather than sit around to hear the same old rhetoric?

The McCain campaign is foolish.
They need to be in Florida or Ohio to have any hope of taking this. The NH trip--going after their 4 votes (especially when Obama's ahead in the polls) ---is a complete waste of time.
FYI this is a ticketed event. Your local GOP office should have tickets for you.

J -- to your comment....what are you a politically analyst? The McCain campaign knows exactly what they are doing. Firstly, they've already been to Florida and Ohio, have offices set up there, and will probably be back there again. Secondly NH is a very important swing state...I am from NH...are you saying we don't matter? May I remind you what happened last election?? 4 electoral votes might just be what it comes down to buddy...this race is close.

They found her concerns were justified, and she was within her right to fire Monegan. However they did find her relationship with Trooper Mike Wooten and his firing was an ethics violation. So by HER making the decision to fire him was unethical, but the reasons behind the firing were justified.

She has NOT been found guilty. The report said it was 'jaundiced' and should be taken with a grain of salt. Keep in mind it was the troopers UNION and Obama supporters who started this. The trooper himself supports SARAH PALIN and loves her and admits he was out of control. You people are so desperate to fish for ANYTHING you can on her that you are really on a fishing expedition. It's laughable.
Governors fire people all the time. Bill Clinton was a governor that came with tons more baggage than this, without much digging.. It was a non issue to you then.

Deborah Harrington, president of the Woods Fund, a philanthropic organization in Chicago, said Obama was a director from 1994 through 2001. That overlaps Ayers’ time as a director by three years. Barack's First fundraiser for the Presidency was hosted at Ayers home.

I truly feel McCain doesn't feel the way some of these Floridians do. It puts him in an awkward spot as he now has to spend time defending Obama's character intead of concentrating on the issues.
I'm far more concerned about the economy and the future of the USA than about some has-been kook who did his dirty work when Obama was eight years old and happened to sit on a charity board with him ten years ago. But actual facts don't matter to those with Obama Derangement Syndrome.

However, given the latest polls, I'm very concerned that Obama will likely become our next president. Can you say bye, bye jobs? That's what will happen when he's president and raises corporate taxes to close to 50% forcing more businesses to go offshore. At our now 35% corp tax rate, the US is double digits higher than any other country.
If McCain manages to perform a miracle and come back in the polls, he would lower the corporate tax rate to 25%. I don't know if I truly believe he will get rid of the hanky panky with the corporate kickbacks. On one hand, he says he will and claims that he was held back from doing so in the Senate. He's been a Senator for 26 years. We hear of some of the good work he's done (as has Biden) but I'm not sure I trust McCain.
Look, I'm voting for Bob Barr. I wish people would see that BOTH of these candidates stink and start looking at alternatives for true change. The traditional two party system is broken and can't be fixed. There's too much hatred between the parties. Just take a look at all the comments going back and forth on this blog where people are allowed to speak their minds anonymously. I think it's time for a change and hope that people come to that realization soon too.
Regardless of who is our next president, that person will faill because of the mess that this country is in. Then we'll continuously see finger pointing between the two parties as to whose fault it is.

Take a look at the blogs and see the hate that is spewed between followers of the two parties. If someone has a different viewpoint or follows a particular candidate, they're insulted, ridiculed and made to feel ignorant. Outside of the blogs, people are stealing the other candidate's signs and ridiculing others. Whatever happened to freedom of speech and respecting people's opinions?
I'm pretty sure Obama will win, given the latest polls. If the people choose him, he deserves respect as our president, even if folks don't agree with him. I do not envy the next president though as he will have to face the collapse of this country and try to put the pieces back together.
Unfortunately, most Americans don't think in black and white as the traditional two party system likes us to believe. Repubs and Demos want to you to believe one way or another way. There is a lot of grey and most people's beliefs fall into that grey category.
Color or sex doesn't matter to me either - I just want someone that does a good job and someone who can unite all Americans again.
