The Eagle-Tribune: Obama has wrong views on abortion

  • tired of the liberals · 1 year ago
Thank you Sandra for making my point. Where in your blog does it mention the word abortion. We are talking about abortion here. Typically, this is where one might insert a name, refering to one that can't stay on topic. But I'll refrain and give you a chance to actually make a rational comment about abortion.
Now ladies and gentlemen, introducing Sandra and her comment on Abortion....

    Obama vs. McCain.

This is a matter of opinion so my reader may not agree. However, I strongly believe this is a no brainer. It’s time for someone and something new, period. When talking about issues, Republicans will say yes, McCain is right on the issues. Democrats will go on and say Obama is right on the issues. I feel getting into a debate on issues and arguing over who is more right than the other (especially in blogs) can at times be counterproductive. Certainly it has the potential to be productive, though in the end, generally speaking, opinions will always be divided.

So one way to get around debating on all the issues is to limit myself to discussion on just one - the TERM LIMIT theory for my argument on voting a party other than Republican in office. It can be as simple as that.
For those concerned with experience, one consideration would be to either vote for either Biden or McCain, depending on your party.

For those who are less concerned about experience and focus more on real politics, then you ought to know that experience doesn’t define the candidate anyway. It is true, no one is really ready to be president. But I prefer someone who has the artistic and creative intuition and vision to figure out solutions to problems as they surface, those who have the ability to jump into something new and effectively pick it up, in his own unique way - like Keith Moon for instance (hehe). Obama is that person. McCain will most likely stick to his Republican ways. Obama, I feel, has greater intuition which allows him to be flexible on issues rather than be static, and this is a characteristic that’s imperative in the ever-changing world on which we all live. Bob Dylan would agree.

If you’re an independent or an undecided Republican and if all of the arguments you’ve heard continue to fail in helping you make a decision, consider this: I believe it would be wise to make a switch and put a Democrat in office this time around. It’s been 8 long years since the Bush administration first took the seat, and I believe it is healthy, just like term limits are healthy, to now rotate toward the other party. The world is honestly sick of our Republican-isms. Democrats are just as American and patriotic as Republicans, so having a Democrat in office will be a good thing by default. I am actually a registered Republican, but that should be an easy fix.

    Obama is the right choice.

    Ms Clifton ...

Really now, what would you EXPECT from the senator that one organization that tracks senators' voting records rates as THE most liberal of the 100 senators (and Biden as the 3rd most liberal)?

But then, while a McCain/Palin ticket is clearly better from a pro-life perspective, what happens if the woefully inexperienced on the national/international level Palin becomes president due to an ailing or dead McCain? Very scary thought ...

He without sin cast the first stone. Is it alright we impose our beliefs on others, and not the other way around? How much difference are we then say muslin? Do you believe in separation of church and state? America is a melting pot of idea and ideologies, Which side do we take? I believe in live and let live I will be judge on what I do, and not and what others do.
  • A one issue platform? · 1 year ago
Abortion is always an arguable point, but this election cannot be based on a single controversial issue. Obama is clearly the best choice for many reasons during this crucial period...and our cancer-surviving republican candidate just handed us one more, and it's a powerful one. If he dies in office for whatever reason, who in their right mind would want Palin RUNNING THIS COUNTRY? Think about it.

Honestly, I can't read another message sent in from this hypocracy laden liberal state. The issue here was Abortion. Not the war in Iraq or whether the next president dies while in office. The problem is, the liberals simply cannot stay on topic. When speaking of the candidates, mention their choice or stance on abortion. Mention the fact that the next sitting president may have to submit the names of three supreme court nominees. Do not compare the slaughter of unborn children to those brave men and woman fighting for our rights and the rights of all around the world to live a life of freedom. I guarentee you that the people in Iraq could not have had this debate five years ago.
By the way, when asked 20 years after the decission, if the decission was the right choice, Roe stated she had made the wrong decission.
Lets have a history lesson in another column. Can't wait to teach a few people a thing or two about "Freedom."

TRUE...The issue here was abortion, not Iraq, or who may die in office...On the topic of abortion, WHY is it that pro-lifers are so concerned about fetuses, yet, less attention is given to women that have had children that they SHOULD have aborted. The abused children, those born with AIDS or drug/alchohol addictions, those raised in poverty that go to bed hungry....better still, those newborns that are found in trash bins.....
SAD & SICK, all of the above, but in my mind, the kindest to the baby in question would be abortion.
  • choice · 1 year ago
You can't claim a fetus on your taxes.
It is not a person, it is not murder. Susan, if you are against abortion, I respect your choice not to have one. Don't push you bible thumping holier than thou bull$#!t on the rest of us.
  • Nobody · 1 year ago
When moral people argue with immoral people, what is there to gain? Nothing. Each side can never understand the other. Ever.
  • confused · 1 year ago
I'm a bit confused. Did "Nobody" say that abortion is not murder. Did "Choice" suggest that Susan should stop her bible thumping, holier than though bull....? I ask, if a drunk driver slams into the side of a car and the pregnant female occupant loses her baby, is the drunk driver not brought up on charges of motor vehicle homicide? I guess it depends on which way the wind is blowing.
If a woman is forced into having an abortion against her will, what would the charges be?
This country was founded on Christianity. If I do not have the right to point the finger at what I believe is wrong, then who in Gods name has the authority to make up the laws. They are made from a society that determines them based on the beliefs of that society at that time. Again, a debate can be made here. Just don't be rude and start the name calling because somebody sees this issue differently.

Perhaps you misunderstood me. I suggested that each side would never be able to understand the other's point of view. In no way does this suggest that I am for, or against abortion. I happen to be against it, but that's not the point. The point is you can't win an argument with a person who doesn't embrace what you believe in. I can say that, as a Christian myself, I am aware of when and where to fight my battles. Bickering with those who don't consider your core beliefs to even be important, what good is that? People must unfortunately, learn these things on their own. We can only hope to point them in what we truly believe is the right direction. Maybe God will assist them, but he might not. I don't presume to understand it. What I do understand is that people will listen to you if your words and thoughts are important to them. Posturing yourself against them, calling them fools, throwing God into the mix, may do more harm than good. There is a bitterness towards Christians in our country and around the world for that matter. We are mostly viewed as nut jobs who are dumb enough to actually embrace a fantasy, it's just a good book to them, the bible, and some don't even think that. So what do you do about it? I'd suggest that you love your neighbor, as you love yourself. It's as simple as that.

Can't stand you pro-life wackos that want to overturn Roe v. Wade.

It's not an "innocent human" in the first two trimesters. If the baby can't survive outside the womb, it's not a baby.

As a parent of 4 children, I remain fully pro-choice!!!!
  • my 2 cents · 1 year ago
A vote for a Republican puts many more lives of our children in danger also. We are still looking for WMD's at the expense of 4,500 of our youth. How many more will be put to death at the pleasure of John McSame?

To paraphrase a famous American quote:

Millions to shut down abortion clinics, but not one cent for free health care!

Outlaw abortion and we'll return to the days of poor women drinking the fetus away or getting horrible infections from back-alley doctors while rich girls get it "taken care of" under the table for a small fee.

I am quoting a button I saw once that really hit home for me.

"If men could get pregnant, abortion would be legal, ethical and federally funded."

McCain likes to talk about his POW injuries. Did you know that his first wife was injured ina car accident while McLame was POW? He returned, took one look at her, and began having affairs. When he landed the rich young Cindy, he dumped the first wife. McCain is a old gigilo.
