Can someone please tell me when did the elderly curfew was put into place? As far as I am concerned, it does not CONCERN YOU where and what this man was doing at that time. The point is, he passed away after hit vehicle hit a tree. I didn't know after a certain age you lose your right to go with your business. My condolences to his family and friends.

this man was a verry caring man who i worked for at one time. mr. lovoi treated my like his daughter . if i no mr.lovoi he was coming home from a hard days work or was helping some one in need. mr.lovoi had his falts, but deep down he was a good man. from and old iowa friend.

25 MINUTES!!! Where did YOU come up with such a BS story...if you even read the article then you would know the fire chief was right behind this driver and the second the accident happened he, and many other devoted emergency workers were right there trying to save his life. This blog is nothing less than a joke, and I pity every one of you who had nothing better to do than to speculate on whether this poor man should or should not have been driving. It was an ACCIDENT. ACCIDENTS happen every day. I agree with Paul here, and the other FEW had anything to really offer...my sincere condolonces to his family....some people just have NO RESPECT!

I felt really bad when I read this. After all the air was cleared though I feel that the elderly should have to pass a reflex type of test because they (we all do) owe it to our fellow drivers...to keep them safe too. Last year, we had a similar circumstance here in NH. The difference was that the elderly fellow took a young woman's life, along with his. No need to get upset with the comments that are directed towards the idea that the elderly maybe shouldn't be driving at certain times or beyond so many years. This isn't a condolence area but rather a comments area. Maybe someday, reality will sink in...

Young at 68, You keep dragging age into this. It is not about AGE, I thought I had made that clear but apparently not. This is all about your ability to drive a motor vehicle. If you show up for your exam and you get the sign off then bravo! have at it. And yes I will feel that exact same way today tomorrow and god willing 30 years from now but this is not the area for this debate. This poor mans family has seen enough. DMA I AGREE WITH YOU AS FAR AS AMERICANS NOT TAKING CARE OF THEIR ELDERLY FAMILY....THEY ARE QUICK TO LAY THEM UP IN A NURSING HOME AND VISIT THEM 1 TIME A WEEK......(PROVEN I USED TO BE A CNA)......I LIVED IN PUERTO RICO FOR 5 YEARS AND THERE IS NOT 1 NURSING HOME THERE ELDERLY STAY WITH SOMEONE IN THEIR FAMILY IF THEY HAD NO CHILDREN...IF THEY DID THEY STAY WITH ONE OF THE CHILDREN......MY BEST FRIEND IS LEBANESE AND HER MOTHER AS WELL AS AUNT AND UNCLES ARE ALL MORE THAN EAGER TO JUMP UP AND BRING HER GRANDMOTHER TO AN APPOINTMENT........FOREIGHN RACES ARE VERY FAMILY ORIENTED AND AMERICANS ARE NOT.......AND IM AM AMERICAN......

i work a full time job my mind is always clear when i am driving
i hope when you get into your older years will you still fell the
same way? Like i said
before if they do give 69 or older test
i will be the first in line.

Dear young at 68,
The argument goes both ways. I am appalled at the lack of real knowledge on this board. Statistically speaking the odds of 16 - 25 year old men and woman getting into accidents is HIGH. It tapers off after that but then spikes up drastically at 69 and above. In fact the data is almost identical. The amount of people who cause accidents increases at 75 and spikes up to match the 18yo crowd. Now think about the data logically. 18+ cause accidents because of cell phones, blah blah blah. but most of all because of inexperience. The elderly cause accidents not because of the lack of experience or cell phones or blah blah blah. But because of degenerative response times, sight and hearing. I believe all people over the age of 69 should be required to take a physical driving exam yearly. Not because of some hatred towards elderly but for safety. If an 16yo has to take a test to obtain a license it is ignorant to think they can have it forever regardless of age, regardless of that persons ability to drive. And to anyone who disagrees, I dare you to contact the family's of the 86yo who killed 10 people in santa monica by driving thru an open market. This is not an issue of age or discrimination. The FACT is that your ability to operate a motor vehicle falters as your physical issues impede that ability. If you want to let anyone who is physically impaired drive then remove the drunk driving laws. Who needs them? Its my right as a human to drive impaired and no one should take that away from me... Doesn't make much sense does it? Neither does allowing ANYONE who is mentally or physically impaired drive a vehicle. Now with that all said, We may never know what happened to this poor soul, But we shouldn't assume its because of age. We simply wont ever know so stop assuming. My heart felt condolences to the family.

I am 68 years young have had my license from the age of 16 never
have had a ticket, never got stoped or had a accident .So for all of
you who think the elderly should have road testing sit on it. I see
more 20 to 40 year old persons talking on cell phones, loud music
cutting in and out of traffic. If i had to take a road test i would. My
heart goes out to the family of the man. Maybe he had a reason to
be out.

We wish to honor his memory as a true "American Hero". His passion as an advocate in support of Veteren's Affairs made a difference in the lives of deserving yet unserved veterans spanning three generations, WWII, Vietnam, including our current struggle today in the Middle East. His contribution as an American, acknowledging unselfish sacrifice to country commands the respect he deserves.

This man died in an accident. What is wrong with you people? Bickering about why he was out late at night, proper grammer ect...This man is a WWll veteran who died alone in his car. He fought for his country with pride and I'm sure fear for what he believed was for the good of all of mankind. Do you not have anything better to do than critisize him because of his age and the time? You should hang you heads and ask for his forgiveness for the lack of respect you are showing him and his family. Shame on all of you!!
