The Eagle-Tribune: Magliocchetti, Sierpina win School Committee seats

  • Jamie2 · 2 months ago
Pretty hard to put a positive spin on those elected in Haverhill as long as pant-load Bevilacqua continues to be voted in. He is the major problem with the School Committee's ineffectiveness.
  • VoiceofHaverhill · 2 months ago
why is it I don't get all warm and fuzzy about the idea of a just-retired principal joining the school committee?

why is it I keep thinking about how Haverhill has a history of educators backstabbing superintendents whenever, whereever and however they get the chance?

Why do I think filing grievances will now be the second thing on the mind of teachers because they have someone they can complain to on the school committee?

why does this make me so uneasy?
  • bigkahunah · 2 months ago
Shows you how bad Haverhill voters are, they vote for someone who has dropped out of the race.Lawrence votes for what it voted for. What is the valley coming to ??
3,100 people wasted their votes on a candidate that QUIT.
State of Maine got it right, now it's 31 out of 31 states where the PEOPLE have voted.
  • dorothygail · 2 months ago
You are a total ASS. People should never be allowed to vote on the civil rights of others. Would you like your neighbors or some guy down the street to be able to dictate what you can and can't do? Maine got screwed.
    ALL MEN WERE CREATED EQUAL!
  • Badman · 2 months ago
saying someone is an "ass" or that someone goes down on the mayor is unexceptable dot. You're quite a lady.

Maine got it right by the way.
  • dorothygail · 2 months ago
you are an ass too. Mainers are all just people. when we stop labeling people and hurting them, I will stop calling ugly people ass's.
  • bigkahunah · 2 months ago
Seems more people liked my comment than yours :)
  • dorothygail · 2 months ago
if you think that your neighbor or a stranger should be able to tell you what you can and can't do in your personal life, you are either brave or not very intelligent. Everyone is entitled to civil rights. My problem with this is that people like you don't care that a person who robbed a bank, raped someone or even killed someone can get married, and as many times as they like. A 17 year old kid with no job and no money can get married, there are no IQ requirements, no financial requirement, anyone can get married... unless they happen to be gay. It does not matter that they are good honest hard working tax paying wonderful people. I can't understand the mentality of someone who thinks it's ok for a felon to marry but not a good person.
  • Badman · 2 months ago
Dot, you're a mental case. You go on and on with all this support for gay marriage, then you make gay jokes about the Mayor! And apparently you think everyone is an ASS and that must be OK to post.

DOROTHY IS AN ASS ASS ASS ASS ASS ASS ASS ASS ASS ASS ASS!!!!!!!!!!
  • dorothygail · 2 months ago
I didn't make a gay joke, I made a joke. You label thing not me. Everyone who reads what you blog knows what a mental case you are. And no I don't think everyone is an ass, just you!

    dorothygail;
Talk to your husband - he allowed it to happen to me - all done illegally - and it keeps coming!
If you can see it for all - why can't you see it for one?
  • dorothygail · 2 months ago
was that some kind of riddle? what are you talking about? what am I supposed to be able to see? BTW I do not have a husband.
  • bigkahunah · 2 months ago
AHHHHHHHHH there's the problem with all the anger. No Mate!!
AND for your information, this is America I have the freedom of my own thoughts. I don't have to use yours AND I don't have to agree with yours.
Just because it is MY BELIEF doesn't means it is right or wrong but I am allowed to have MY BELIEFS. AND it seems many others have the same BELIEF 31 out of 31, sounds like you are a minority on this subject
  • dorothygail · 2 months ago
bigkahunah, you ASSume a lot of things when you blog. I didn't say I don't have a mate, I said I don't have a husband. And you are the one who sounds angry. Being entitled to your beliefs is a far cray from shoving your beliefs down the throats of others and dictating how others should live. I am fine with your beliefs as long as you don't demand that everyone else has to live by them. And that's exactly what you are saying you want. You don't agree with gay marriage so it should be outlawed for everyone else. Do you actually hear what I am saying here, or has hate completely consumed you?
You are demanding that everyone live by YOUR rules. I am saying that you should live the way you want and I should have the same rights. And before you start typing, NO I am not gay, but I have gay friends and family members. And so do you! I believe that we should all be able to decide for ourselves who we love and how we live. It does not affect my life if gay people have the same rights that I have. Why are you so hateful and angry towards a group of people who you don't even know? AND I didn't make a gay joke, I made a JOKE! You are the one who feels the need to LABEL everyone and everything.
  • bigkahunah · 2 months ago
These are not "CIVIL RIGHTS", that is the spin used to try and get the tender people to vote for it.
31 out of 31 have agreed!!!!!!!!! So you must be saying the majority that voted for Obama were wrong ??
And don't call me any of your family names DOT
  • dorothygail · 2 months ago
Bigotry breeds ugliness, that is why this country continues to hurt people. Bigoted people keep dictating what others can and can't do. Just remember, you have gay family members who deserve the same rights that you have, they may not have come out yet, but they will. Please love them too, please treat them the way you treat your straight relatives.

I was watching Novak's interview with Kerry Fitzgerald last night. At one point she mentioned her past infertility (!) and then described herself as "not a complainer" (!!) who felt that the School Committee needed to work together as a team (!!!). That's when I spit my mouthful of tequila out in shock and surprise.
  • bigkahunah · 2 months ago
The pot calling the kettle black. She was most of the cause !!
It will be a nicer committee meeting now BUT I think we still have to remove Toohey and Woodsey also.
  • Carrot · 2 months ago
I have a sneaking suspicion that without Kerry's bullying and inadvertently malign presence that everyone else is gonna be a lot more effective.

And I use the word 'inadvertently' because after watching her in action over the past few months and then seeing her interview with Frank Novak, I've reached a conclusion: she's nuts, and she's nuts enough not to be self-aware of the consequences of her behavior.
  • bigkahunah · 2 months ago
I agree and the voters also agreed in the primary to get this ball in motion.

So Ray Sierpina got 5,700 votes! Amazing! How does that happen? Are there really that many people in the teacher's union with a vested interest in getting him elected?

I wonder if all 5,700 people watched Ray say in the candidate debate that he would vote to give teachers pay raises?

I wonder if they know he will not vote to lay teachers off if they refuse future furlough days which are surely coming?

I wonder if any of them know that even though Ray is retired, he filed his finance campaign report late?

I wonder if they know he kept his wife in a teaching position that others would have been let go from and as a result required the city to pay for an additional teacher to do her work?

I wonder if all 5,700 people know Ray was instrumental in voting down privitizing janitorial services in the city a few years ago which would have saved the city over $650,000.00 per year and as a result would have actually saved teacher's jobs?

I wonder if they all know Ray's son was appointed to a position for which he had absolutely no qualifications for?

One thing is for sure...the voters have spoken. It will be interesting to watch Ray through the next few years as he figures out that he made a mistake in taking a job that actually requires being articulate and intelligent. Although it's a sad day for the City of Haverhill for Ray to be elected, it will certainly be entertaining watching him each week.
