The Eagle-Tribune: Haverhill police step up late-night patrols at park

  • wow · 1 year ago
So we need to increase patrols even though nothing has happened. What about the residents of the Mt Washington neighborhood that have to listen to fire works, deal with vandalism, gangs, speeding cars, ect. Could we step up patrols in that are first?

Let's not forget the ever-chaotic Acre.

    Don't worry.

I've almost completed the midnight basketball program for Haverhill. That will solve your problems.

As soon as I am back in Boston from carrying Senator Obama's luggage around the country, I'll be sure to get those backeball courts openend.

    CAN YOU SAY.......................................GATE?
  • simple · 1 year ago
put up a simple wifi camera......everything that happens at the park gets recorded for future use.

Heck...those cameras are already on all the new stop lights in haverhill...check it out on the rt 125/ward hill connector.

Some "clerk" can watch the monitor at the police station....if they see anything suspicious, dispatch a police car from the duncan donuts on rt1100. Could be to the park in 5 mins.

...maybe you should first learn how to spell "Dunkin Donuts", before you start making comments...

+1 on the Gate - simple solution to atleast keep cars and such out.
  • not concerned · 1 year ago
So what a few cars go in and nthing is happening damage wise. Some people do work different hours and live a differnet life style.
For the people watching the cars at night. GET A LIFE and go to bed.

    A quote:

no recent reports of unusual activity late at night.

so, why is extra patrol needed?

Camper: A gate would be a simple solution...but, that is too simple....LOL

Gate is Ok for the park or nothing at all
Police are needed in the acre and mount washington areas and suroundings
  • Boo Radley · 1 year ago
from what I understand is that there is a problem with gay men "hooking up" there at night in the woods...... they may have to close it at night like they had to close the rest area on 110 in Haverhill when they had the same problem years ago

    Duh... no vandalism.

Send the Haverhill HS lacrosse team up there to instruct them on park rules.

Get a life. People can't do anything these days without someone calling the police and getting teenagers arrested for no good cause.
  • ChairmanOfTheBoard · 1 year ago
Yeah, because the police just go around for "no reason" and arrest teenagers.

    Get a grip.
  • JL · 1 year ago
"The center of social life in Haverhill?" I must have missed the memo on that one.
  • ChairmanOfTheBoard · 1 year ago
I always thought the center of social life in Haverhill was the A-1 deli on Saturday morning - Damn - NOW I realize I've been missing all the fun.

    - Put up a gate you morons - get the cops and the new "chargers" over to high & washington street to clean up all the "undocumented workers" and "working families" in that area.

Whats councilor Daly-Obrien (please get a real name) doing up there is the dark?
  • HaverhillCrew · 1 year ago
They need to patrol the ave's
  • Randy · 1 year ago
Honestly, I've heard numerous stories of teen couples going up there to "do the deed" without the prospect of getting caught by parents.

That's what I want for my daughter. Losing her purity in the back of a car in a park in Haverhill ........... AWESOME

I was an Auxiliary Police Officer in the 1980s. We used to have weekend duties to patrol public parks and schools from 6 pm until 1 am or so. I can not tell you how many folks we chased out of Winnekenni Park, Haverhill Stadium, school lots, etc. Most of the individuals we confronted were older teens looking for a place to "have alone time." We moved them along. I know Haverhill still has HAPD, they should get them back to doing patrols. Their time is free, and you will have Officers volunteer for the shifts.
